Day 15 – Your Five Literary Heroes
Life is so noisy right now, but it’s going in the right direction. So, part of my catch-up here is the next prompt.
In no particular order, my five literary heroes;
- Jay Gatsby from The Great Gatsby – I love The Great Gatsby. It’s the only F. Scott Fitzgerald book I can read but I love it. The thing I really love about this book and the characters is how truly over the top it all is. Hysteria is a great word for it. It’s infectious. There are so many flaws in Gatsby, but ultimately he just wants the girl he fell in love with the idea of. From someone that came from nothing, he built himself an empire just the prove to Daisy that he could give her the life she wanted in return for her affections. However, despite the parties and the lush life, he is a very lonely man in a crowded room. He is very misunderstood but eventually, someone sees him for who he is. Nick sees Gatsby for the real man that lies beneath the facade, but by then it is too late. (My first ever tattoo, which was of course book related was from The Great Gatsby and I love it).

Day 14 – What Tattoos You Have & If They Have Meaning
I think tattoos and piercings are a great way to express yourself. More so tattoos, but the principle still stands. It’s a way to express yourself without going out of your way to affect others around you, it subtly tells something about who you are and what you love. I feel like they both get such a bad rap but I’m a firm believer of each person to their own so you want to write it on your skin then you do you.

Day 13 – Something That You Are Currently Worrying About
I am naturally a stressed person. I get so unbelievably stressed over everything and sometimes it makes things incredibly difficult to deal with. My body has a really terrible way of dealing with the stress too, and it is often crippling.

My first writing challenge and I’ve ruined it. I’ve been working the early shift at work and by the time I’m finished I’ve just been so tired and so emotionally done that all I’m doing when I get home is sleep. I managed to wash the car yesterday which is something, at least. So now I’m three days behind. I’ll catch up, I promise.

Day 11 – What You Wore Today
So today was a rare day off work that I didn’t have anything planned. I was thinking of doing so many things but in the end I decided to go and see my younger brother and his girlfriend who live up in Inverness. It was a beautiful day, perfect for a trip to a beautiful part of the Scottish Highlands. My fiancé was working so I headed off myself for what was rocking up to be a relaxing day out.

Day 10 – Put Your Music on Shuffle and Write the First 10 Songs
Anyone that knows me knows that as well as my books, my great love is singing. I don’t think I’m good at it but I love singing out loudly (the louder, the better it comes out). Long drives are the best because it very quickly turns into a live show featuring yours truly. for this prompt, I just stuck my Spotify on shuffle and this is the result. I’m quite happy with the little playlist it created. Maybe it will be turned into a new CD for my car. Continue reading “30 Day Writing Challenge – Day 10”
Day 9 – Something You Think “What If?” About
This is one I think about quite frequently actually. It doesn’t do good to constantly dwell on a life of ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ but sometimes it is interesting to think. A big “what if?” for me revolves around my move from Glasgow to Aberdeen four years ago. I spent most of my life in the central belt of Scotland, I went to school there and its where most of my immediate family all stay. When I finished high school, due to a number of difficulties with life and my family, I made the conscious decision to move away for university. Continue reading “30 Day Writing Challenge – Day 9”
