So we’ve reached the final book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. It’s been a wild ride of emotion and pain but we’ve loved every moment of it. There is a huge possibility that this series is my favourite series of all time (and that would mean that it surpasses The Lord of the Rings and Spotless which says a LOT about my feelings towards the series). Anyway without further ado, A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas.
We all love Judy Blume. So many of us grew up with her books and those books made a lasting impression on us (everyone needs Double Fudge in their lives). So this book was written back in 1975, won the 1996 A.L.A. Margaret A. Edwards Award for Outstanding Literature for Young Adults and was said to be ahead of its time. It was, and for some, it might still be. I really, really adored this book. I related a lot to the story and it hurt.
Forever by Judy Blume.
This was one of the books that I always saw and like the look of but never really got around to reading. I’d seen a lot of great reviews about it and so when I saw they had it in my local library I decided to give it a go.
I love a retelling of fairytales. It’s always interesting to see how the author will take a spin on the original tale we know and love. And that is what A Curse so Dark and Lonely is. It’s a modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast and this much is apparent since the beginning. So here we go; A Curse so Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer.
So I’ve loved this series. Stumbling upon it by mistake has been one of the best things and I can’t express how much I’ve enjoyed reading it. It has been a whirlwind of emotions and happenings to and really what a dystopian, apocalyptic novel needs to be. Its been great and I’m sad we’ve reached the end. And what an ending it was!
So, here we go. The Eternity Cure, the final instalment in the Blood of Eden series by Julie Kagawa.
Have you read any of the Shadowhunter series by Cassandra Clare? If you have it’s likely you’ve been following it for a while, the series is huge with more works still appearing.
One of the things I love about Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunter series is the way that all the subseries are linked. Most of the time, it is through families that they are linked (so we see the Herondale family and the Fairchild and the Lightwoods in all of the various series’) or the Silent Brothers but there is one character that always reappears without fail throughout it all. Magnus Bane. (As it stands at the moment, he is the only character that appears in all of the main instalments of the series).
So let’s talk about Magnus Bane.

So this one has been a long time coming. I was introduced to the wonders of the Spotless series by a woman I used to work with. We both have pretty similar tastes when it comes to books but I won’t lie I was a little sceptical about starting this series. It just didn’t seem like something I would be into and a little out of my comfort zone. What a misjudgement that was!
I’m forever rereading this series switching between book, eBook and audio book depending on where I am and what I’m doing. It has become one of those series that has found a special place in my heart and I drift back to it every few months when I need some Island and March in my life.
Let’s get ready for May 12th 2020 when Spotless 5, the final instalment of Island and March’s adventures hits the shelves!
So life has been all over the place with work and getting our flat ready for the arrival of our little baby in May (it’s so close, just 8 weeks now). We are currently staying in a one bedroom flat at the moment which meant that we had a lot of space to make for baby things. I have three bookcases at the moment and part of the compromise was that I had to reduce the amount of space that I was taking up with books (I love my books more than most things, but the baby is obviously more important!) So this meant that I had to condense down my bookcases and put some books away in the cupboard for now.
I thought that I would do a post on my bookcases before this happened because they won’t be looking too great by the end of this!
So, my first ever bookshelf tour! Continue reading “Bookshelf Tour”
