These Precious Scars (Book 0.5) – Emily Suvada

Title – These Precious Scars

Author – Emily Suvada

Series: This Mortal Coil

Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥

I love a short story, especially one that gives us more insight to a world we have grown to love. Here is the prequel story in This Mortal Coil Series, set before book 1 when the Knockout Kids were still just kids.

This was very hard to read.

It’s very short, the perfect length really. Any longer and I think I would be in tears. My heart is already sad enough.

They are 11. Just 11 years old. The lab has been their entire life, and all they have known is the pain and torture of the tests that have been run on them. They have never known a loving, caring touch.

The feeling of a hand on his body is just a promise of pain.

Then they are faced with a chance at freedom, or what they believe to be their freedom.

There isn’t too much to say about this without giving away the entire premise of the short story. All I can say is that it is a must read if you are reading through the series. It answers questions that you didn’t realise your heart had been asking about the Knockout Kids.

For this beautiful and terrible short story, I would give it 5 out of 5. It is everything it needed to be. I don’t think I will ever be able to shift it from my heart.

I need a week to recover from this.

Until next time.
