Day 29 – Most Anticipated Read for Next Month
Next month, I have decided I’m going to to be focusing on fairytale retellings so I’ve picked out a list of books that I hope to get through and review for the month.
That means I know in advance what I’m going to be reading which could either work really well or really badly. I’m hoping it goes well because it would cut some of the work out for me with a small baby on the go, it’s one less thing to think about.
I’m probably being a bit optimistic with this one but my most anticipated read is actually going to be a series.
My most anticipated reads for next month is going to be The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer.
I love fairytale retellings but what I like about them is to have their own twist and a good twist at that. I don’t like a carbon copy retelling because honestly what’s the point of that?
The Lunar Chronicles is a series that I’ve picked up a few times and thought about reading but never actually got around to it. It’s been recommended time and time again but I’ve always been a little reluctant because it means I have to get stuck into a series and that is quite the commitment to make. I’m finally ready to take the plunge though.
The Lunar Chronicles seems to be fairytale meets science fiction and that’s a really cool concept. It doesnt seem to just be limited to one fairytale either which will keep me interested for sure because I’ll have a good mix of all the fairytales I know and love. They focus on arapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, and Cinderella. I must say I’m excited for Little Red Riding Hood.
They are all set in a futuristic setting where humans, cyborgs and androids all exist which is a pretty cool concept for fairytale retellings. After reading The Wayfarer series I’ve discovered a great love for sci-fi that I never realised I had so this series is going to combine two lives of mine. I can’t wait.
Until tomorrow.
I want to read more fairytale retellings too – I have loads on my TBR. I hope you enjoy the series.
